Earlier this term, the Cumberland High School Market Day was held. This was the second time that this event has been held at the school and the results were most impressive. Year 11 Business Studies classes and Year 9 Commerce classes produced 24 different stalls, each marketing a different product. many influential business people from industry were present to oversee the market day and congratulated all concerned on the success of the day.
Variety was the key throughout the stalls, from crepes with various toppings to a selection of different games. Most stalls were fortunate enough to sell out and little waste was left over. The day was a great success with the profits to be donated to a charity, yet to be decided on by the Yr9 and Yr11 classes.
Individual stalls were lucky enough to receive critiques from external mentors which provided valuable additional knowledge on how to operate an effective business.
Overall, Market Day was received extremely well and provided a positive vibe throughout the school. The experience that it has given the participants has allowed for a greater understanding of the functions and operations essential within the business environment. We would like to thank Mrs Carroll and Mrs Rigg for their efforts in the creation of this highly successful event. To see some more photos of the day go the Gallery.
