There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
Year 7 Camp 2026
Our Year 7 students had the most incredible time at camp, building friendships, stepping outside their comfort zones, and creating memories that will last for years to come. From team challenges to campfire laughs, this is just the beginning of an amazing journey at Cumberland High School.
2026 Band Together Festival
On Tuesday, 16 June, the Concert Band performed at the Band Together Festival held at Riverside Theatre. This festival, organised by School Bands Australia and the Band Together Foundation, brought together school bands from across Western Sydney to provide students with an opportunity to showcase their talents and connect with the community. Additionally, the Concert Band was invited to perform at the Gala Evening Concert on Thursday, 18 June.
MADD 2026 Showcase
On Thursday, 27 August, Cumberland High School hosted its very first MADD Showcase in our new building. The night started with an incredible Art Exhibition in the Drama Room. Artworks from a wide range of students in Year 7 to 12, Visual Arts and Japanese, showcased their works for the Cumberland Community. At 5:30 pm – Guests were ushered into the hall for the start of the concert, kicked off by the Concert Band. The concert concluded with Senior students who presented pieces that were high energy and high emotion.
History Excursion - Anzac Memorial and State Library of NSW
Year 9 History classes Blue and Red visited the State Library of NSW and the Anzac Memorial for an immersive World War I learning experience. They explored propaganda posters, wartime artefacts, and paintings, and participated in a hands-on detective activity with real WWI items. At the Anzac Memorial, students learned about its significance and watched a powerful theatrical performance depicting soldiers’ experiences. The visit concluded with a tour of the memorial’s museum, showcasing stories from the Navy, Army, Air Force, and Medical Corps, honouring the bravery of Australian soldiers.
Wauchope 2026
Congratulations to our Cumberland teams on their outstanding performance at the annual Wauchope competition. Over three action-packed days of various sports, our students demonstrated exceptional skill, teamwork and school spirit, securing a well- deserved victory for another year! This event remains a significant highlight in our school calendar, promoting physical health, camaraderie and pride in our school.
Bookweek Celebrations
On Thursday, 27 August, we celebrated Book Week. Many staff enjoyed dressing up as their favourite book characters.
Students had great fun participating in a range of competitions and challenges. A favourite activity was following cryptic clues to find 30 large cardboard X’s hidden inside library books.
